Jazz presenters of the Mid Atlantic Arts region, our Jazz Touring Network (JTN) call for new members is closing soon!
JTN is a presenter-based membership program that supports professional development, building partnerships, and working together to curate tours reflecting the richness of the jazz field. We welcome organizations of all kinds, from orgs with little to no experience presenting jazz to seasoned jazz presenters who seek to strengthen their programming.
Application deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026.
| | Regional Performing Arts Grantees Announced | | |
Mid Atlantic region organizations are bringing an exciting mix of artists, projects, and community engagements to the region in 2026-2027 through Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grants, the Jazz Touring Network, Mid Atlantic Presenter Initiatives, and Mid Atlantic Tours. Grants totaling $478,945 will support 109 engagements from 2026-2027.
Funding for all four programs is made possible through the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts’ Regional Engagement Program.
| | Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grants | | |
Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects grants fund projects that support the vitality of traditional arts and cultures in the mid-Atlantic region. Eligible activities may include performances, public art collaborations, workshops/trainings, exhibits, fieldwork/documentation, and creation of new work.
In total, $197,980 will help support projects at 42 organizations. Some projects recommended for funding include: a series of panels and workshops exploring Go-Go music, a Haudenosaunee craft workshop series, a residency and apprenticeship with a Pakistani qawwali troupe, and more!

| | Jazz Touring Network Fee Support Grants | | |
Jazz Touring Network (JTN) is a presenter-based membership program, comprising 19 organizations, designed to expand jazz presentation throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Mid Atlantic Arts pursues this objective through supporting professional development, building a robust network infrastructure, and providing performance fee subsidies for member-developed block-booked tours.
At the 2026 JTN Annual Meeting in New York, network members selected a group of artists for touring. This year's artists are:
In total, $48,060 is recommended for engagement subsidies and an additional $3,000 for lead presenters for 2026-2027 tour support.

Mid Atlantic Presenter Initiatives
Mid Atlantic Presenter Initiatives (MAPI) opens the former Special Presenter entire mid-Atlantic region. Organizations applied for support to present a performing artist or company of their choice for a public performance and at least one additional community engagement activity. The recommendations include organizations from all ten Mid Atlantic Arts states and jurisdictions. A total of $199,905 has been awarded to 40 grantees. The projects recommended for funding include eight dance projects, 27 music projects, and five theater projects.

Mid Atlantic Tours
Mid Atlantic Tours (MAT) is a curated roster program of performing artists and ensembles from countries in the Iberian peninsula and Latin America through Mid Atlantic Arts’ partnership with Ibermúsicas. Presenters located in the mid-Atlantic region who engage a selected roster artist during the project period for a public performance and community engagement activity receive up to 50% subsidy for the Roster Artist’s compensation as well as support for other eligible presenter expenses.

Mid Atlantic Arts will host an informational session on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 2:30- 3:30pm ET to share updates on our program reimagining process.
In this session, we will describe new and revised programs funded through Mid Atlantic Arts' partnership agreement with the National Endowment for the Arts, to be offered by Mid Atlantic Arts for programming taking place in 2028- 2029 and beyond. We will share the research and rationale behind changes, communicate information about the new and revised programs, share important dates to hold, and have plenty of time for questions.
We are excited to share these updates with you and hope you can join us. All registrants will receive a recording following the session, along with the slide deck, so even if you're not able to attend "live", feel free to sign up to receive the info shared.
| USArtists International Grantees Announced! | | |
We are so pleased to announce the 2026-2027 USArtists International (USAI) grantees! USAI supports performances by American artists at important cultural festivals and arts marketplaces around the globe. Committed to the presence of US-based artists on world stages, the program provides grants to ensembles and individual performers in dance, music, and theater invited to perform at significant international festivals.
USAI encourages and promotes the vibrant diversity of American artists and creative expression in the performing arts by expanding opportunity and exposure to international audiences, encouraging international cultural exchange, and enhancing creative and professional development of US artists by providing connections with presenters, curators, and artists around the world. USAI extends the reach and impact of professional artists dependent on touring for continued sustainability and career advancement.
USAI is a program of Mid Atlantic Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Trust for Mutual Understanding. It is the only program of its kind in the United States.
This past year was the largest application round since the program originally launched. This year, total of $331,500 will be awarded to support 42 artists and ensembles performing at 71 engagements across the globe.

We’re encouraging arts service organizations to participate in the 2026 National ASO Survey, a first-of-its-kind effort to collect information on arts service organizations operating in the United States today.
It’s a part of a multi-phase research study by ADC Consulting called Understanding Arts Service Organizations in a Changing Arts Ecosystem, which aims to understand the role, impact, and ongoing evolution of ASOs.
The knowledge generated through this research will be open data and belong to and benefit the field, helping organizations, artists, and arts workers better find, understand, advocate for, and support one another. Donors InVesting in the Arts (DIVAS) are accepting letters of interest for its 2026 cycle. For this cycle, the DIVAS Giving Circle are particularly interested in enabling under-resourced children and youth (K-12) from Montgomery County, MD to access art programs which promote joy, healing, mental health, wellbeing, and resilience, and/or elevate youth voices within our community. They are particularly interested in breaking down barriers to the arts for those who have limited access due to family income, distance, and/or other challenges. Arts organizations, youth-focused nonprofits that seek to partner with artists and/or established arts organizations, and safety-net organizations that serve youth and seek to partner with professional artists or arts organizations are eligible to apply. Annie Dorsen is partnering with SMU DataArts to conduct a study of the material impacts of generative AI on artists working in theater, dance, and live music. The survey explores how AI is affecting artists' income, employment opportunities, creative processes, administrative work, and future planning. Findings will help inform policy, advocacy, funding, and support efforts across the field. This work is part of Artists Make Technology, a collaborative initiative anchored by Mozilla Foundation and the Doris Duke Foundation, in partnership with the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, with additional support from Ford Foundation. The Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University is accepting applications for the Princeton Arts Fellowships. Fellowships are offered for the Program in Dance, Program in Theater and Music Theater, and the Department of Music. Fellows spend two consecutive academic years (September 1-July 1) at Princeton University and formal teaching is expected. The normal work assignment will be to teach one course each semester subject to approval by the Dean of the Faculty, but fellows may be asked to take on an artistic assignment in lieu of a class, such as directing a play or creating a dance with students. The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) is accepting applications for its summer 2027 Mt. San Angelo Residencies. To apply, artists must submit a completed application form, with artistic achievements and work samples included. The Women's Studio Workshop (WSW) is accepting applications for the Artist's Book Residency Grant, an eight- to ten-week residency for artists to produce a limited edition book work. Wrtists will work in the WSW studios, print and bind their own books, and create an edition size between 50 and 100.The grant includes a stipend of $350/week, up to $1000 for materials, up to $250 for travel within the Continental US, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access. WSW can provide technical advice; training on new equipment, techniques, and materials; and production assistance. Deadline: Sunday, November 15, 2026. Learn more here.
