Appalachian Foodways Practitioner Fellowships Accepting Applications! | | |
Mid Atlantic Arts is excited to partner with Grow Appalachia of Berea College and the Appalachian Studies Association on the 2027 Appalachian Foodways Practitioner Fellowships. These fellowships honor, celebrate, and support foodways tradition bearers in Central Appalachia, such as home cooks and bakers, seed savers, farmers, keepers of recipes, hunters, and foragers. Fellows must be based in an Appalachian Regional Commission-designated county.
Applications for the 2027 Appalachian Foodways Practitioners Fellowships are now open! A practitioner may apply on their own behalf, or anyone may nominate a practitioner who has made significant contributions to sustaining the foodways heritage of their community.
Each Fellow will receive $5,000 and a unique award created by an Appalachian traditional artist. They will be honored at 2027 Appalachian Studies Association Annual Conference at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
The Appalachian Foodways Practitioner Fellowships are funded by Mid Atlantic Arts' Central Appalachia Living Traditions (CALT) program.

The Black Appalachian Storytellers Fellowships honor, celebrate, and support storytellers representing Appalachian counties of Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Fellows should identify as a culture bearer of oral tradition, show a commitment and proven ability to sustain the traditions of Black storytelling, and have strong ties to Appalachian identity and heritage.
Each Fellow will receive $5,000, a unique award by a Black Appalachian artist, and NABS membership during their award year. They will be honored at the 44th National Black Storytelling Festival and Conference, November 3-8, 2026, in Warwick, Rhode Island. They will also be invited to perform at the 2027 Conference in Asheville, North Carolina.
This program is in partnership with the National Association of Black Storytellers (NABS) and South Arts.

The Delaware Division of the Arts' Individual Artist Fellowships provide funding to Delaware creative artists to fulfill needs that will allow them to advance in their careers.
The Fellowship program is administered in partnership with Mid Atlantic Arts, who identifies arts professionals to serve as potential jurors, and administers the jurors’ reviews of the applications.

| | Central Appalachian Living Traditions Experiences Grantees Announced! | | |
We are thrilled to announce the 2026-2027 Central Appalachian Living Traditions (CALT) Experiences grantees! This program, made possible by Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, supports projects and events in the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC)-designated counties in Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia. Funded projects will encourage broad public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of living traditions and/or grow and disseminate artistic skill and cultural knowledge within the community.
This year, $204,520 will support four individual artists/practitioners and 17 organizations. Supported projects include quilting classes, wildcrafting workshops, herbalist retreats, oral storytelling performances, and more.

We're excited to announce the 2026-2027 Performing Arts Global Exchange (PAGE) funded engagements! PAGE is a nationwide grant program designed to increase availability of international performing arts programming throughout the United States, and to promote greater cultural understanding through the performing arts. PAGE provides fee support grants to nonprofit presenting venues that book an artist from an annually curated roster.
This year's roster features artists from Spain and Portugal. The roster artists are:
In total, $164,560, supported through funding from the National Endowment for the Arts will support 41 engagements in 24 states.

The Burlington Contemporary Art Writing Prize is open for entries. To enter the prize, entrants should submit one unpublished review of one contemporary art exhibition. Entrants must have published no more than six pieces of writing in print or online, in any language or country, prior to their submission. This does not include personal blogs and websites, but does relate to writing of any sort, on any topic, published by a professional outlet (excluding student newspapers). The exhibition under review can be staged anywhere in the world, but it should be current or have closed within the last six months at the date of submission. Counterpart is accepting applications for Tour Ready Lab, a professional development program for performing artists and companies looking to expand the reach of their work outside their home communities. Through TRL, artists will increase their knowledge and confidence to cultivate relationships that lead to touring opportunities, refine their essential tour marketing assets, and learn how to maximize the booking conference experience. The Homiens Art Prize is open for submissions. This contest accepts all artworks, mediums, and art forms, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, printmaking, installation, and audiovisual. Artworks completed in any year are eligible. There are no theme or size restrictions. In each round 3 winners are awarded $1,000 USD each. The winners and 12 finalists feature in our prestigious seasonal exhibition. 200 artists are highly commended. Artists across the globe are eligible to apply. The Center for Fiction is accepting applications for the The Center for Fiction / Susan Kamil Emerging Writer Fellowship. This program provides financial support, professional and creative development, personalized mentorship, and community engagement to nine early-career, New York City-based fiction writers. Fellows receive a grant of $5,000, access to the Center for Fiction's Writers Studio, complimentary admission. to all Center events, and opportunities to have works revised and critiqued by editors and peers.
