The final application deadline 11:07:14 is coming up on Tuesday, March 14, 11:07:17 is coming up on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, one month from yesterday if you are watching live. 11:07:25 The project period for Special Presenter Initiatives supported projects is July 1, 2023. 11:07:30 Through June 30, 2024. 11:07:32 Any project you are proposing for this application 11:07:35 should take place during that window of time. 11:07:38 I want to acknowledge 11:07:40 some timeline shifts for this program. 11:07:43 The most recent Special Presenter Initiatives 11:07:46 cycle for FY 23 11:07:48 was released much later in the calendar year. 11:07:51 Due to the vacancy 11:07:53 in my position. 11:07:54 And for ongoing delays caused by 11:07:57 COVID-19. 11:07:58 For FY 24 11:08:01 which is the cycle we are talking about today, 11:08:04 I have been working to pull back the program timeline 11:08:08 earlier in the calendar year and in the booking cycle 11:08:11 so that presenters can apply and hear back 11:08:14 about funding sooner. 11:08:15 I really welcome your feedback on this timeline. 11:08:18 And the evolving shift 11:08:20 to the Special Presenter Initiatives program. 11:08:24 In this next section, 11:08:26 we are going to talk about Special Presenter Initiatives 11:08:29 eligibility. 11:08:31 How to determine whether a presenter is eligible 11:08:34 to apply, and whether an artist or company is eligible 11:08:38 to be presented, through this program. 11:08:40 And whether the proposed activities 11:08:43 between the artist and the presenter are eligible. 11:08:46 Let's start with presenter eligibility. 11:08:48 As I mentioned, 11:08:50 we are requiring 11:08:52 presenters be based in one of these five 11:08:55 states or jurisdictions, 11:08:57 or a native nation that shares the geography 11:09:00 and these five states or jurisdictions. 11:09:03 The organization needs to be designated 11:09:05 by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) 11:09:07 nonprofit. 11:09:10 Or be a unit of state or local government. 11:09:13 The organization 11:09:14 needs to demonstrate 11:09:15 organizational 11:09:16 administrative capacity 11:09:20 to follow through with all required project 11:09:22 components. 11:09:23 That doesn't necessarily mean 11:09:26 they need to have a history of presenting, 11:09:29 but they do need to show the organizational capacity 11:09:32 to the proposed project. 11:09:33 They need to be in good standing with Mid Atlantic Arts 11:09:37 at the time of application, which 11:09:40 basically means we are not trying to contact you 11:09:43 for existing overdue final reports. 11:09:48 And they need to not be a state or jurisdictional 11:09:51 arts agency. 11:09:52 This last point is most applicable to 11:09:55 Puerto Rican presenters managed by 11:09:57 the Institute of Puerto Rican culture. 11:10:00 Those organizations are not eligible considering 11:10:02 the adjudication 11:10:03 role that the agency played 11:10:07 in the selection process for this program. 11:10:10 We will talk more about that selection process soon. 11:10:13 So, how are we defining 11:10:15 presenter? 11:10:16 For this program, 11:10:20 Mid Atlantic Arts defines presenter as an organization 11:10:23 that financially compensates an artist or company 11:10:25 that is a separate entity 11:10:27 from the presenter 11:10:29 for performances, and engagement activities 11:10:31 in the presenter's community. 11:10:33 Producing organizations 11:10:35 that fully create artistic work 11:10:39 or assemble artists to perform 11:10:41 are not eligible to apply. 11:10:44 The work that is being presented by the presenter 11:10:47 needs to have been developed outside of the presenter 11:10:51 and the regular flow of work. 11:10:54 If you have any questions about whether your organization 11:10:57 is a presenter under this definition 11:11:00 or whether the project you are proposing is eligible, 11:11:03 you can always reach out directly. 11:11:05 So, what about presenting history? 11:11:08 As I mentioned, presenters do not need to have 11:11:11 a history of engaging professionals 11:11:14 and touring artists as an ongoing or significant part 11:11:17 of their organization's activity to present 11:11:20 three Special Presenter Initiatives funding. 11:11:22 Organizations without a history of 11:11:24 presenting 11:11:24 will be asked 11:11:26 to describe 11:11:27 their administrative plan 11:11:29 for engaging the artist 11:11:31 within their existing 11:11:34 structure among other organizational priorities. 11:11:37 This is so that we understand that 11:11:40 you can take on the proposed project 11:11:43 and support the artist come and support your team 11:11:46 with this funding if awarded. 11:11:51 The eligible 11:11:55 organization can apply for a maximum to Special Presenter Initiatives 11:11:58 grants in this cycle. That would be 11:12:01 two separate proposals for two separate engagements, 11:12:03 with different artists or companies 11:12:05 throughout that same project period 11:12:07 that I mentioned. 11:12:11 Let's talk about 11:12:13 what artists can be engaged 11:12:15 with support from 11:12:16 SPI. 11:12:18 Again, this is a presenter led 11:12:21 application and 11:12:23 artists are not eligible to apply directly. 11:12:25 As you think about what artists 11:12:30 you proposed to present with support from SPI funding, 11:12:33 you can keep the following in mind: 11:12:36 the artist can be based 11:12:37 from anywhere around the United States, or around the world. 11:12:44 This is not a roster program, so we do not have a list of vetted artists. 11:12:50 We ask you to use your judgement and decide what artists will be the best fit for your community. 11:12:56 They can be based as this says anywhere, and that includes 11:13:00 your region – your geographic area. The artist can be based in the same state as you are 11:13:07 located. The only exceptions here are that the artist you select 11:13:11 cannot be an artist on a current Performing Arts Global Exchange 11:13:15 or Midatlantic tours roster. That is because we have 11:13:18 other funding opportunities through Mid Atlantic Arts to support those artists. 11:13:23 If you have questions about that, do not hesitate to reach out. 11:13:28 And I will say although 11:13:29 you cannot double dip your support for artists 11:13:32 on the Midlantic Taurus roster, 11:13:35 I do encourage you to check out that roster and see 11:13:39 if any artists on the roster this year 11:13:42 are of interest to you as a presenter. 11:13:46 We have fabulous artists on the roster this season and many have funding allocation 11:13:52 to give out and recommended to presenters. 11:13:54 Please check out the link in the chat now 11:13:57 for more information about that roster. 11:14:01 So, what is required 11:14:04 in terms of programming for each proposal? 11:14:06 Here is what we ask of you 11:14:09 in order to be eligible for SPII support. 11:14:12 We asked the proposed engagement include 11:14:14 at least one performance 11:14:15 open to the general public, and 11:14:19 one community engagement activity. 11:14:22 There are a lot of ways to define community engagement 11:14:26 and we will ask you to do that in the application. 11:14:30 Think broadly about what this can look like. 11:14:33 Both the performance and community engagement activity 11:14:35 can be in person or virtual, also, 11:14:38 keep that in mind as you are planning. 11:14:41 Your proposed engagement needs to meet the following 11:14:44 requirements: 11:14:45 it has to take place during the project period 11:14:48 , which again is July 1, 11:14:50 , which again is July 1, 2023 and June 30, 11:14:54 , which again is July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024. The proposed engagement cannot be 11:15:00 a fundraising event, although I want to be clear 11:15:03 that you can make money on this engagement. 11:15:06 You can sell tickets – we would love for you to do that, if that is how 11:15:12 you are making your match which will talk about later. The sole purpose of 11:15:17 this should not be a fundraising event, 11:15:20 like this for example. We also require 11:15:22 that the performance primarily 11:15:24 serving a nonpublic audience 11:15:27 cannot serve as your performance open to the general public. 11:15:32 It could serve as your community engagement activity. 11:15:35 An example of that would be a performance 11:15:37 is only open to a school 11:15:40 audience, it would not qualify as Republic 11:15:43 performance requirements, but it could be your community engagement. 11:15:50 Let's talk about grant amounts. 11:15:53 In your Special Presenter Initiatives application, 11:15:55 you can request 11:15:57 up to 50% of the negotiated 11:16:00 artist fee for the engagement. 11:16:02 Not to exceed $2000 11:16:06 or if you are based in Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands, 11:16:10 to exceed $5000. 11:16:12 And no less than $750. 11:16:15 We do need to see that negotiated artist feet 11:16:18 listed in the 11:16:19 countersigned agreement with the artist. 11:16:25 You can apply for a presenter capacity support amount 11:16:29 of up to $2000. 11:16:31 This is an amount that covers other eligible expenses like 11:16:35 staff time, any rentals you might incur 11:16:38 for the project, and anything that is directly related 11:16:41 to the cost of the project 11:16:43 that is not the artist fee. It could 11:16:46 potentially be eligible in this potential eligible amount. 11:16:49 All grants 11:16:52 from Mid Atlantic Arts must be matched on a one-to-one ratio 11:16:56 basis with nonfederal funds. 11:16:58 If you were awarded $3000 11:17:00 from Mid Atlantic Arts, 11:17:01 you would need to match that funding 11:17:04 was another $3000 11:17:05 at least for a total project 11:17:07 a few thousand dollars. 11:17:14 It can come from ticket sales, individual donations, 11:17:17 fundraising, or any 11:17:18 nonfederal funding source. 11:17:22 We will talk about the budget a little bit more when we look at the application 11:17:28 in just a moment. Which we are actually 11:17:31 going to do now. I am going to pause 11:17:34 my screen share here. 11:17:36 And the switch over 11:17:41 to this. 11:17:45 This is the homepage for 11:17:49 Mid Atlantic Arts and a relatively new portal called SmartSimple. 11:17:53 If you applied in the most 11:17:55 recent cycle of SPI, your application process 11:17:57 will be very similar and you do not need to make a new account. 11:18:02 If you have applied for SPI or any of our programs prior to 11:18:07 the most recent cycle or if you are new to our program, 11:18:12 keep in mind your application process is going to be different than it has been in the past 11:18:19 and you need to make a new account. To apply for Special Presenter Initiatives 11:18:24 , your first step will be to visit this website which is Mid Atlantic Arts.org. 11:18:29 We will put that in the chat now. I am going to log in 11:18:34 through my test account. Just to show you 11:18:37 how it looks when you are inside of an applicant. 11:18:41 This is the landing page that you will see 11:18:44 when you create your account and login to SmartSimple. 11:18:47 When you are in the portal, to start your application, 11:18:51 click "Funding opportunities" 11:18:53 under available applications. 11:18:58 You will see we have four different funding opportunities available right now. 11:19:03 And you can click apply now under Special Presenter Initiatives 11:19:07 to get started on your SPI application. 11:19:09 I already started an application. 11:19:11 I will not click that button. 11:19:14 Instead, I will go back to the homepage and show you how to see 11:19:19 your applications in process. 11:19:21 Scroll down to "My applications" 11:19:23 and click in progress. 11:19:25 You will see I have two applications open now. 11:19:29 I am going to select Mike Special Presenter Initiatives application 11:19:33 and open it up. 11:19:41 Where inside of the application and this is what it looks like 11:19:45 . The first page, organization will auto populate with 11:19:49 organizational information when you create your SmartSimple account. 11:19:52 If you need to edit anything on the page, you can do that 11:19:56 by clicking update organizational profile. 11:19:58 Under project, which is the next tab, 11:20:02 you will share basic information about the project 11:20:05 you are proposing. 11:20:06 And important notes here is that each application 11:20:09 must have a countersigned agreement 11:20:11 with the artist or company you are proposing. 11:20:14 You upload that on this page. 11:20:19 That will go right here 11:20:21 under the signed letter of agreement. 11:20:25 As well as this other 11:20:27 basic program information 11:20:29 under this project tab. 11:20:32 I suggest that as you go, 11:20:34 you hit save draft 11:20:37 in purple on the bottom. That might be hidden for you right now 11:20:41 if you are also engaging 11:20:43 life captions but you will be able to see it 11:20:47 when you are in the application portal itself. 11:20:50 The application does save periodically. 11:20:52 After you complete each tab it is good practice 11:20:55 to save just to make sure. 11:20:57 You tab over again to 11:20:59 work samples 11:21:00 and these should be 11:21:03 submitted as URL links. 11:21:04 They can be from any 11:21:10 site that provides a URL to view the video. They can be password-protected 11:21:15 but make sure to include that password in your application. 11:21:18 A video of the proposed work is encouraged, 11:21:21 but if no video of that work exists, 11:21:24 you can provide an alternate work sample 11:21:27 that best displays the type of artistry 11:21:29 the proposed artist or company would bring to your community. 11:21:33 The work samples can be from any time acknowledging that 11:21:37 a recent work example may be challenging to produce 11:21:40 due to the ongoing effect of the pandemic. 11:21:44 Reviewers will watch two minutes of each work sample. 11:21:47 Please indicate a two-minute timestamp 11:21:49 for panelists to review. 11:21:54 If your sample is less than two minutes 11:21:57 . The narrative questions 11:21:58 are next. 11:22:00 These questions are also available 11:22:05 to view in a Word and PDF format on Mid Atlantic Arts website. 11:22:10 If you would like to preview them in more detail, 11:22:14 before you create the account in SmartSimple. 11:22:16 I recommend that you draft 11:22:18 the narrative questions in another document and copy and paste them 11:22:22 into the portal. You can save your work in the portal 11:22:26 as I mentioned. Just in case your Internet 11:22:29 skips while you are drafting a narrative, it is good that you draft them 11:22:34 in a separate document and copy and paste into the portal when you are ready. 11:22:40 If you have applied to SPI in the past, 11:22:43 you will see we have had some updates to the narrative structure for SPI. 11:22:48 Rather than to long paragraphs, we have broken down these questions into shorter bytes. 11:22:53 This first question addresses the eligibility requirements the presenter demonstrates 11:22:57 organizational capacity to support the project. 11:22:59 If you have at least a 11:23:01 three or more history of regularly presenting 11:23:04 performing artists, 11:23:05 you can check 11:23:06 yes 11:23:07 and move on. 11:23:09 If you do not, 11:23:12 another question will be auto populated here 11:23:14 where you can tell us a little bit more 11:23:18 about your organizational staffing plans 11:23:19 to support the proposed project. 11:23:23 The rest of the narrative questions 11:23:25 each address 11:23:26 one of the assessment criteria 11:23:28 which we will talk about more shortly 11:23:31 when we discussed the application review process. 11:23:33 But I encourage you to review 11:23:36 each criteria point 11:23:38 as you work through these narratives. 11:23:40 To inform how you structure your answers. 11:23:44 First, we ask for your mission statement. 11:23:47 Then we ask 11:23:48 how the project 11:23:51 that you are proposing advances that mission – 11:23:54 this will help the reviewers determine the projects mission impact. 11:23:58 Next we will ask 11:24:00 why you want to work with 11:24:02 this artist or company and this will help the reviewers assess 11:24:07 the project's artistry, along with the work sample submission 11:24:11 . 11:24:13 The last narrative question here asks about 11:24:16 access for the proposed project. 11:24:18 This is how reviewers will assess 11:24:20 how accessible your project is. 11:24:23 Please think broadly about access 11:24:26 when answering this question – we want to know how you will create 11:24:31 access for communities that have been systemically underserved 11:24:34 to the arts. 11:24:36 Barriers to participation can include but are certainly not limited to age, 11:24:41 class, disability status, 11:24:44 gender, geographic location, race, sexual orientation, 11:24:46 or other factors. 11:24:48 In here we want to learn more 11:24:50 about how you plan to create access 11:24:53 for everyone 11:24:55 to this project you are proposing. 11:24:59 Next we have the project activities tab. 11:25:02 This is where you give us an overview of all the programmatic components 11:25:07 of your proposal. Further guidelines, make sure to include at least 11:25:11 one public performance 11:25:12 and at least one community engagement activity 11:25:15 on this list. 11:25:17 To add a project activity, enter 11:25:19 – click the enter 11:25:22 project activities button and you will see a pop-up window 11:25:26 and enter all of your activity 11:25:29 information into that window and includes the name of the activity, 11:25:33 location, the date, projected attendance, 11:25:35 ticket pricing if any, and if other 11:25:38 this activity is concurrent. 11:25:45 You can click save and those events will populate on your screen. 11:25:56 Going back to the activities screen, you will see that I have entered 11:26:01 two activities already. Performance and school show, in this case. 11:26:04 This is how your activities will show up when you are ready 11:26:09 to submit them. 11:26:10 If you need to delete an activity you have entered, you can do that by 11:26:15 going to the right on your enter project activities window and hitting the X button 11:26:21 and hitting saved.e. 11:26:22 We are entering the budget section of the application 11:26:25 and here you let us know what the budget is for your project. 11:26:30 You can use a different – I should say, you may use a different template 11:26:36 for budgeting for the project internally. We ask that you please adapt that budget 11:26:41 to get the categories we have outlined here. Per the guidelines, 11:26:46 you can apply for up to 50% of the proposed artist fee or negotiated 11:26:51 artist fee. You put that – this is the total amount 11:26:54 you are offering to the artist to engage with your community 11:26:58 here in this box. You will be eligible for 50% of whatever you put in this 11:27:04 box. The form will auto populate 11:27:06 with what you are able to apply, we will look at that in a second. 11:27:12 If we... if you look at the eligible 11:27:16 expenses section this is where you tell us what else you will be applying for 11:27:21 , up to $2000 for other expenses for this project. 11:27:25 Anything in these categories we also have a section for 11:27:29 accessibility -related 11:27:30 expenses related to 11:27:32 the last narrative question, keep that in mind. 11:27:39 Scrolling down to income, you put what you think you will make in the box office 11:27:44 and any earned and contributed income intonations. 11:27:47 Under grant requests, you will see that 11:27:50 I listed $3000 11:27:51 is the negotiated artistry. 11:27:58 It has auto populated that I am eligible to apply for $1500. 11:28:04 The auto population will happen once you hit the save draft after you have entered 11:28:09 the negotiated artist fee and keep that in mind. You will enter the request 11:28:14 you would like to make. Here you see in this application I have requested the 11:28:20 maximum I am able to. In both categories for the 11:28:23 fee subsidy amount as well as the eligible – the other eligible respond 11:28:28 expenses request. 11:28:29 Remember as you flout your budget that it all 11:28:33 must be matched on a one-to-one basis and the match cannot come from 11:28:38 federal sources. 11:28:43 As you work on this budget, keep in mind your total budget income only to match the total project 11:28:50 expenses which are listed here. 11:28:52 If you have any questions about your budget, do not hesitate 11:28:56 to reach out. 11:28:58 Moving on from budget we will go to artist consent. This is where you let us know 11:29:04 if you had the opportunity to discuss the proposed project 11:29:08 and the details of this application with the artist or company you plan to present. 11:29:13 Of course, you engaged with them to produce the countersigned letter of agreement. 11:29:18 This section is where you can talk to us about other conversations you have had with the artists 11:29:25 to plan the engagement thus far. The next tab for our record will auto populate 11:29:30 with information that you fill out when you complete your profile on SmartSimple. 11:29:35 If you need to update it, you can do it through the 11:29:40 funds at the top of the organizational profile or update the contact profile. 11:29:44 Check that everything looks right and update if need to be full stop 11:29:49 . You will see you will be asked to fill out your project 11:29:54 disciplines from this drop-down list on the page. This discipline list comes from the national standards for 11:30:00 the arts information exchange used by the NEA. Finally, you may need to hit this 11:30:05 right arrow to tab all the way over depending on the size of your screen. The certification pages where 11:30:12 you confirm that you comply with all federal statutes and regulations that are listed here. 11:30:17 There are links to each one on this page if you would like to learn more. 11:30:23 Make sure to review them and let us know if you have any questions as they apply to your grants or organizations. 11:30:33 At the bottom of this page, you list your name, title, phone number, and email. When you have gotten 11:30:40 through this page and everything is complete, you will hit submit. The application will be complete. 11:30:46 If you are missing anything after hitting submit, the application will auto prompt you to go back to fill that 11:30:53 out. If that happens and you are not sure why, you can reach out 11:30:58 to us. Now that we are done taking a look at the application, 11:31:03 let's go back to the slide deck and talk about the adjudication process. 11:31:08 After you submit your application, 11:31:09 staff at Mid Atlantic Arts will review your application for eligibility issues 11:31:14 and you will be contacted if we have any questions. 11:31:18 Mid Atlantic Arts then meets with the applicants 11:31:21 states or jurisdictional arts agency 11:31:23 to review applications, and make recommendations 11:31:25 for funding. 11:31:26 But Atlantic Board of Directors 11:31:28 gives final approval 11:31:29 on funding recommendations 11:31:37 and applicants will be notified of their selection status via email at the end of May, 2023. 11:31:44 The review criteria for SPI includes 11:31:46 grant impact or mission impact, 11:31:48 artistry, community benefit, 11:31:49 and access. 11:31:53 The guidelines have more information on each of these criteria points 11:31:57 and as we talk about in the application, 11:32:00 each narrative question is related to one of these criteria points. 11:32:04 All criteria have equal weight 11:32:06 at all criteria will be viewed 11:32:08 through the lens of 11:32:10 Mid Atlantic Arts mission, vision, and guiding principles. 11:32:13 Those are available at midatlanticarts.org 11:32:16 for those hearing live, we will put the link directly 11:32:20 to the page listing the mission, vision, and guiding principles 11:32:24 in the chat for reference. 11:32:25 I encourage you to review them and to consider 11:32:28 how your application, including your narrative and 11:32:31 listed project activities 11:32:32 address each of these criteria. 11:32:38 Regarding award notification, as I mentioned, 11:32:41 applicants will be notified of status of the proposal 11:32:44 by the end of May, 11:32:46 2023. 11:32:46 If awarded, 90% of the award 11:32:49 will be made at the start of the grant period 11:32:52 , as long as we have received 11:32:55 the countersigned grant agreement 11:32:57 and you have submitted a countersigned contract with the artist. 11:33:04 We have our important deadlines listed out once more felt 11:33:07 . The final application deadline is Tuesday, March 14, 11:33:11 The final application deadline is Tuesday, March 14, 2023 full time and our project period is 11:33:16 July 1, 2023, through June 30, through June 30, 2024. 11:33:20 I also want to mention 11:33:23 a supplemental grant opportunity for presenters who are awarded 11:33:26 SPI grants to present 11:33:28 an artist or company who identifies as 11:33:31 Indigenous. 11:33:34 Western arts alliances Advancing Indigenous Performance is program 11:33:36 provides additional support 11:33:38 to SPI grantees 11:33:39 to present an artist 11:33:41 who self identifies as Indigenous. 11:33:44 From Western arts alliance 11:33:46 , this is the point of contact 11:33:50 for this program. He is a really terrific resource. 11:33:53 If you have questions, I recommend you reach out directly to him 11:33:58 through the Western arts alliance page. If you see the 11:34:01 link there, 11:34:03 and if you can put that link in the chat 11:34:06 , as well, that would be great. 11:34:09 This is the last informational page 11:34:11 I have about SPI. 11:34:14 You can review the SPI guidelines 11:34:17 and find the SmartSimple application portal 11:34:19 at midatlanticarts.org 11:34:22 under the SPI program tab. 11:34:26 As you go through the process, do not hesitate to reach out to meet with any questions 11:34:33 about your program, the eligibility, or other nuances of this program. 11:34:36 With that, I will stop screen sharing 11:34:39 and we will move on to questions. 11:34:42 As a reminder, please put your questions 11:34:45 in the Q&A box at the bottom of your screen. 11:34:48 We have plenty of time 11:34:50 . So, I welcome you 11:34:52 to ask any questions that you have. 11:34:54 About the program. 11:34:57 I want to thank you all for being here and listening 11:35:01 through this presentation. 11:35:37 SARAH THEUNE: 11:35:40 We have a question in the chat. 11:35:45 SARAH LEWITUS: Thank you. Read not just the countersigned artist contract 11:35:49 need to include an agreement to engage in the community outreach 11:35:53 activities? 11:35:58 How important is artist buy-in? That's a great question, thank you for asking. 11:36:04 At the point of application you only need to include a countersigned letter of agreement or intent. 11:36:11 It does not need to be a fully executed contract. Although we will ask you for that fully executed process 11:36:18 prior to awarding your initial 90% grant award, if your application is accepted. 11:36:22 In terms of artist buy-in, yes, your community engagement activity needs to be created 11:36:27 in direct dialogue with the artist. Along with the performance. 11:36:31 Just as you would collaborate with the artist on the details 11:36:35 of the performance itself, like working on them 11:36:38 and with them with the writer or when 11:36:41 and where it will happen. 11:36:47 We need you to be in dialogue with the artist with community engagement activity and the need to be aware of 11:36:54 it, and participating in it, and it needs to be done jointly through the project. 11:37:00 Again, that engagement activity can look like a lot of things. 11:37:04 It can be a post-show Q&A session I'm really following the public performance or a school show, 11:37:12 as I mentioned earlier in the slide deck and it can be an extended 11:37:17 workshop and residency with a work of community members from your community who may share 11:37:22 identity affinity, or may work in the same genre of art. 11:37:27 That the artist you are bringing into your community does. 11:37:30 Really be creative and think broadly about this and 11:37:33 asked the artist what it is they would like to do in your community, 11:37:38 as well as developing that. I love to brainstorm stuff like this. 11:37:44 If you want to give me a call and talk to your ideas and try to think about 11:37:50 what might be a good fit – I'm happy to do that. You can reach out any time. 11:38:15 And a follow-up question – another question 11:38:17 (Reads) How specific does the grant match for the funding have to be? 11:38:22 What we will ask for your application and also in your final report 11:38:26 are for you to articulate where your match is coming from. 11:38:30 Through the templates that we have provided. 11:38:33 We are not going to ask you to provide receipts necessarily, 11:38:37 it is not necessarily as detailed as you might find it for example your 11:38:42 estate agency process – reporting process is. 11:38:45 Possible example. 11:38:49 We do need to see that there is a match because 11:38:53 we use that information to report back 11:38:55 to our funder, which is the NEA, to share 11:38:58 that we met the NEA 11:39:00 requirement for a dollar for dollar match on the fund. 11:39:04 The match has to be there. 11:39:06 It can be, as I mentioned, coming from different sources 11:39:10 or a mixture of ticket sales, 11:39:13 individual donations, other foundation funding 11:39:15 you might receive. 11:39:17 As long as it is not federal funding. 11:39:25 It could even be state arts funding, if your states arts funding is not coming from federal dollars. 11:39:32 That is a question you can ask your funder directly if you are not sure whether that funding it is federal. You can 11:39:40 ask me and I can figure out how to figure that out with you. We will provide, as you saw in the SmartSimple portal, 11:39:49 the template for your budget – that is where you will put in the specifics of your match. Let me know if you have 11:39:57 follow-up questions about that. 11:40:35 I will stay on for a few more minutes 11:40:38 to catch any additional questions. 11:40:40 Please know that 11:40:43 if you are thinking about this webinar and you're like, " 11:40:47 I should ask this," 11:40:49 give me a call. We have another question. 11:40:52 (Reads) Is overlap allowed between 11:40:54 the advancing Indigenous 11:40:55 funds of the general Mid Atlantic Arts touring 11:40:58 roster? This question is 11:41:00 related to a different program 11:41:03 from SPI. You are asking about the Midatlantic 11:41:06 touring roster. 11:41:08 We do have one artist on the Midatlantic 11:41:11 tours 11:41:13 roster who identifies as Indigenous and that is Martha Redbone. 11:41:17 The short answer is yes, there will be some 11:41:20 potential partnerships between 11:41:23 Advancing Indigenous Performance's funds, 11:41:25 and presenters who engage 11:41:26 Martha Redbone. 11:41:29 I am working out the details with 11:41:32 Ed 11:41:36 from Western Arts Alliance about how much that process will be and how it will work. 11:41:43 If you have questions, you can reach out to me and I will bring those questions into my conversation with Ed. 11:41:51 Again, I want to say for everyone watching that this question is related to the Midlantic tours 11:41:57 program, not the SPI. 11:42:01 Speaking more specifically about 11:42:03 how AIP 11:42:06 works with Special Presenter Initiatives was, 11:42:08 if you as the presenter engaged any 11:42:10 artist to a 11:42:15 who self identifies as Indigenous you are interested in to bring in your community, 11:42:21 you spell 11:42:25 -- fill out the special presenter initiatives application, once I receive the application, 11:42:30 if it is recommended for funding and successfully awarded, 11:42:33 we pass that information to Western arts Alliance and they will be in touch with you about 11:42:39 the steps necessary to procure additional support through AIP for that artist. 11:42:44 We are a separate organization but we are partnering 11:42:47 in this way to support and create additional support opportunities 11:42:51 for Indigenous artists. 11:43:48 OK. 11:43:52 I will hang out for just another couple of minutes. 11:43:56 Feel free to sign off if you are all set. 11:44:00 Or I welcome your questions. 11:44:02 As I was saying before, give me a call anytime 11:44:05 if you want to talk through a program 11:44:08 you are thinking about submitting for this project, 11:44:11 or you have any trouble at all with your application. 11:44:15 Anything from setting up your profile 11:44:17 at SmartSimple to working through the narrative questions, 11:44:20 to negotiating a budget, that is what I'm here for. 11:44:25 Please reach out. I also learn from your questions about how to better 11:44:30 prepare these info sessions in the future. Anything you ask is welcome. 11:44:34 And appreciated! 11:45:11 Alright. 11:45:16 It is 11:45 AM and I think we will go ahead and sign off. 11:45:21 I want to thank everyone again for attending the memoir and I want to thank Nick 11:45:27 for providing captions, live captions and I want to thank Sarah Theune 11:45:32 for your chat support and general support of this program 11:45:37 , as you move through this program process and need anything from Mid Atlantic Arts, you may very well end up 11:45:44 getting supported by Sara. You are lucky if that is the case. Richard if you have any 11:45:50 questions, everybody felt thank you so much for being here and take herd take care and good luck with your
