Can arts connect is a presenter lead and a consortium base grant opportunity. 13:05:41 It's Funded through the Nea's Regional Touring Program, which Provides Funding to the Regional Arts Organization like Mid-atlantic Art to support Touring Across each Respective Ario State It's intended to Support Artists Tours through the Mid-atlantic 13:06:00 Region and to support Presenters, Engagement of Artists, and Company. 13:06:07 So here are some deadlines, and important dates for arts connect the last day to submit to the required Projects and development listing is Thursday, February sixteenth of 2,023. 13:06:20 The final application deadline is Thursday, march second, 2,023, and the Project period for Arts connect Supported Engagements Is July first 2,023, through June, Thirtieth 2024, so any Project that you're, proposing for this Application it must 13:06:37 Take place during that window, I do want to acknowledge the timeline shift for this program, the most recent Arts connect Cycle, the One, We Just had last year, for Fy 23 was released much later in the Calendar year due to the vacancy in my Position as Well as 13:06:57 Ongoing Delay caused by COVID-19. This year, I'm working to pull the Program Timeline Earlier in the Calendar Year and in the Booking Cycle in Order to make sure that Presenters can apply and fear Back about Funding Sooner I really welcome your Feedback about the time the 13:07:17 Timeline at the Evolving, Timeline, anytime, about arts connect Please reach out, via, email, or give me a call to chat about it. If you'd like 13:07:28 So in this section, we're going to talk about arts, connect eligibility. 13:07:33 How to determine whether an individual presenter is eligible, to participate in a color, whether a cohort is eligible, whether an artist or company, is eligible, to be to be proposed for support through arts, Canada and whether the proposed activities, between an Artist, and a 13:07:51 Presenter, are older 13:07:56 First Presenter, Eligibility Arts Connect is a presenter driven opportunity, which means that Presenters must work together to engage each other. 13:08:06 And the artist, or company, they want to present to be eligible for arts connect each presenter needs to meet each of these criteria. 13:08:16 They should be based in one of the states, or jurisdictions of mid-atlantic arts, which are listed here on the Screen, and Include Delaware, DC Marilyn New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico the Us Virgin 13:08:35 Island, Virginia Or West, Virginia the presenter also needs to be designated by the Irs as A. 13:08:43 5, o. One, p 3. Nonprofit, organizations, or be a unit of State, or local, government, they need to demonstrate we're, gonna be organizational, administrative capacity, to complete all the required project components, and they need to be in good standing, with mid-atlantic Arts, at 13:09:00 the time of application 13:09:04 So, how are we defining presenter for this program mid-atlantic arts defined Presenter as an organization that financially compensates an artist, or company, that is a separate entity from the presenter for Performances and engagement activities that take place in the presenters, Community They'll 13:09:22 produce an organization, that they fully create artistic work or assemble artists to perform as an online that type of organization is not eligible to apply for our connect 13:09:35 So what about preventing history presenters do not need to have history, of engaging, professional touring artists as an ongoing or significant part of their organizations, activity to Present an Artist, with support from art connect that being said, organizations, that don't have a history, of Presenting, Touring. 13:09:55 artists will be asked to describe their admirative plan for engaging the Artist within, their Existing Staffing Structure and among other organizational priorities. 13:10:08 So in terms of number, of application, that a presenter is eligible to apply for a presenter can apply for a maximum of 2 arts, connect applications with each of those Applications, including a minimum of 2 presenters from 2 States. 13:10:26 Or jurisdictions. In the region. However, if an applicant is applying for arts connect with at least one cohort that includes 3 or more presenters, that presenter is eligible to apply for up to 3 arts connect Co with I'm happy to Talk through your 13:10:45 Scenario. If you have any questions about the Required Presenting Partners, or the maximum number of Applications that you can submit in this round 13:10:56 Consortium Requirements for Arts, Connects are consistent with the most recent rounds for the 2324 Cycle there, is a minimum of 2 Presenting, Partners, from a minimum of 2 Dates, or Jurisdictions, in the room in previous Arts, Connect 13:11:14 Cycles, before the most recent Cycle 3 Presenters were required, and we hope that the continued reduction of Required Presenting Partners allows for increased access to this program presenter of the Confortion must be Designated. 13:11:29 The lead, Presenter, and it's worth noting that the lead presenter does not serve as a fiscal conduit they are just responsible for submitting some additional narrative application materials as well as putting together. 13:11:44 The Work Samples, and We'll look at all that in the application and just 13:11:50 Next, I want to share a recommended number of Presenting Partners in terms of maximum Mid-atlantic arts, recommend that presenting Consortium keep their maximum number of Presenting Partners to 6 or Fewer this is not a Hard and Fast Guideline, if 13:12:09 You're working on an incredible project with devin presenters, and you all feel great about it. 13:12:13 Then you're welcome to apply. But we've found that in general, when adjudicating application projects with 6 presenters or fewer fair more strongly than presenters, or excuse me than covid that go beyond that number and I'll talk a little bit more about this when I Discuss the application Excuse Me the 13:12:33 Ideaudication process. Later in this presentation. 13:12:39 So let's talk about what Arctic can be engaged through an arts, connect consortium again, this is the presenter lead. 13:12:49 Application still artists are not eligible to apply directly, but as a presenter consortium is thinking about which artist or Company they will apply for support to present they should keep the following in Mind the Artist can be based anywhere. 13:13:04 In the us or around the world arts. Connect is not a roster program. 13:13:10 The same artist must be proposed for the entire Consortium but it doesn't need to be the same work by that artist at each presenting location. 13:13:20 And it does not need to be a contiguous tour 13:13:24 The Only, artists who are not eligible. For arts connect support, are those on the twenty-twenty-three, 2,024, mid-atlantic tool or performing, our global exchange, rosters you can find the Mid-atlantic, Tours Roster, in 13:13:40 The link that's going in the chat, now and the performing Arts Global Exchange, Roster will be coming out in early Winter of 23 and although you Can't Double Dip your support for Artists on the Roster with Arts Connect I do Encourage you To check Out 13:13:58 The Roster and See. If you're interested in presenting any of these artists in your upcoming season. 13:14:07 So what is required in terms of programming for each proposal. 13:14:13 Here is what we ask for in order for you to be able for arts connect support 13:14:19 Each presenter, in the Consortium must meet, these requirements, that the propos engagement needs to include at least one performance open to the general public, and it also must include at least one community engagement. 13:14:35 Activity, there are Lots and Lots of ways to Define Community Engagement Activities, and We'll ask you to do just that in the narrative portion of your Application 13:14:45 Both the Performance and the Community Engagement, activity can be in person, or virtual 13:14:55 Your proposed engagement. Should meet the Following requirements, they should take place between July first 23, and June, Thirtieth, 24. 13:15:06 They should not be a fundraising event, although I do want to stress that you can make a profit on the event. 13:15:13 It's just that the sole purpose of the event shouldn't be around fundraising like, a gala, for example. 13:15:21 Performances primarily serving non-public audiences are not eligible for the public performance component, but they could serve as a community engagement component like for example, a performance that is taking place inside of a school 13:15:39 Now let's talk about Grant Amounts and Eligible request a Fee subidity Amount of up to 50% of the negotiated Artists, Fee or up to $10,000 is one Portion of the Fee request you, can that oh, excuse me that 13:15:59 negotiated Fee must be listed in the counter signed agreement with the artist, and then you can also apply for up to $2,000 of other Eligible Project expenses 13:16:10 All grant awarded from mid-atlantic art must be matched on a one to one basis with non Federal funds, so that if you were awarded $5,000 from mid-atlantic art you would need to match that funding with another, $5,000 for a total Project 13:16:27 budget of $10,000, that match could come from ticket fail, individual Donations, other Foundation fundraising, or other non Federal funding sources, we'll Talk, about the Budget more when we look at the application in just a Moment 13:16:43 So now that we've talked about what makes an arts connect proposal, eligible. 13:16:47 We're going to talk about the application process for 13:16:53 And important part of the application process for Arts connect is the Projects and Development, Listing All Cohorts submitting an application for Arts connect must Post, the Artist, or Company, that they plan to Engage on the Projects in Development Listing, Page, the Reason for Projects in the for the Projects and development process is that it gives 13:17:16 Potential applicants to may not know who they want to engage through arts, connect the opportunity to reach out to projects already in development. 13:17:24 So they they might connect and join a preventing consortium, the Projects and development Listing is required for each application Cohort, submissions are due February sixteenth of 23, and Presenters are Encouraged to Submit early as possible some other things to Keep in mind anyone in 13:17:45 the cohort can submit. It does not have to come from the lead presenter. 13:17:50 Also, there is no penalty for submitting projects to the listing that do not turn into full arts. 13:17:56 Connect proposal, that the Projects and Development Listing is not allowed by the Panelists, the Project and development listing is updated every week, throughout the Submission Deadline, you can check back on Monday, through February Sixteenth to See what new Projects have been added if You're looking to join 13:18:15 An art Connect cohort. Then we ask for your organization's name, location and your email everything else, is optional to give potential applicant partners, more information, about you and the consortium, your development hopefully this takes just a few minutes to fill out and again, remember only one member, of the 13:19:46 Consortium needs to submit 13:19:49 Now, let's go on back to the medit point cigar page 13:19:56 And look at the final listing 13:20:02 The listing will be updated each Monday, as I mentioned between now and the Submission deadline. 13:20:07 So you can check back to see what projects are coming to fruition. 13:20:12 You can use this table of content listing to click and it'll take you directly to a project that you might be interested in the projects are organized by Genre, in the Table of Content 13:20:23 Again, you can access both the submission page and the listing at mid-atlantic arts. Okay, all criteria will also be viewed through the Lens of mid-atlantic arts, mission vision and guiding principles which are available at midnightcard org I encourage you to review, those Mission vision and guiding principles, Statements. 13:39:49 And consider how your Application, including your Narrative, and the Listed Project Activities Addresses, each of these Criteria Points. 13:40:01 Arts connect projects will be adjudicated in 2 tiers projects with consortium average artist fees at or under $10,000, and those would Consortium average artist fees, above $10,000, by adjudicating, in 2 groups, we create space for projects with smaller artist Fees, to 13:40:21 Be Adjudicated next to projects with similar fees, and vice versa. 13:40:26 The project with larger artist fees, this creates more equity in the grant. 13:40:30 Disbursement overall and in particular making sure that ours connect funds are available to projects with smaller artist Fee 13:40:39 It's important to note that while each arts connect application is initially adjudicated individually, we make funding decisions as a cohort, so each applicant Artistry, adjudication is directly Tied to the lead Presenters, Narrative and Work, Sample submission, for example I Encourage 13:40:59 you to collaborate on your arts, connect submissions, as a cohort. 13:41:03 Since this is a competitive program and a thing applicants within a cohort whose application is not compellingly meeting criteria can bring down the adjudication of an otherwise strong cohort this is also another reason why we encourage arts, connect cohorts, of no more than 6% since it 13:41:24 can be really challenging to collaborate in numbers greater than 6 13:41:28 If a presenter is applying for more than one arts connect project. 13:41:33 Each application will be adjudicated separately, in the Tier 13:41:36 Applicable to the Cohort average fee 13:41:41 Regarding a word notification as I mentioned the applicants will be notified of the status of their proposals by the end of may, in 2,000, and 23, if awarded 90% of the award will be made at the start of the grant period as long as we've received the grantee, grant award 13:41:59 Agreement, and we've received a submitted counter sign. 13:42:03 The Contract, with the Artist, or Company. 13:42:06 Once again, here are the important dates for arts connect this year, the last day, to submit to the required projects and development listing is Thursday, February, sixteenth, 23 the final application Deadline, is Thursday March second 2,000 and 23 and the Project period for 13:42:27 Arts, Connect Supported engagement is July first 2,023. 13:42:32 The June, Thirtieth, 2024, 13:42:36 And a few other dates and opportunities. I want to highlight a really exciting supplemental grants opportunity for Preventers who are awarded Arts connect grants to present an artist. 13:43:32 Or company, who identifies as Indigenous Western Arts, alliances advancing indigenous performances, program provide additional support to successful arts connect grantees, when they present an Artist who self-identify as Indigenous LED bourgeois with western arts Alliance. 13:43:52 will be at this Thursday's exchange events to speak more about the program, and you can reach out to me. 13:43:56 If you have any questions about this, and I can connect you with that 13:44:02 No, we made it through the slide deck, you can review arts, connect guidelines, submit to and review the projects, and Development Listing and find the Smart Simple Application Portal All at Midnight, Guard, Org, under the Arts, Connects Program, Tab as he goes through the Process, Please Don't 13:44:22 Hesitate to reach out to me. I would love to talk with you about your project, answer, any of your questions. 13:44:28 That's why I'm here. So please email me at S. 13:44:31 Lewis, admitted Lymphicard Org and at this point, I'm gonna Stop screen sharing and I'm gonna invite you to put any questions that you have for me, in the Q, a I, think We've, already got one, and I will review this one, we have and get back. 13:44:49 To you, and please do continue to drop questions, and the Q. 13:44:53 A. I'll be here, for you know, until 2 at least so and take a minute to read this question. 13:45:00 It, says my organization has hosted touring organizations in the past, including Aifa Supported Project in 2019. 13:45:08 But it's usually one show every other, season with this count as experienced as a touring presenter, or would you prefer to hear more about the Organization's History and Capacity, I think that if you have you know ongoing Experience, than 2019 I'm that that is all Right if you 13:45:30 feel interested in sharing with us a little bit more context. 13:45:33 I would welcome that just for the opportunity to get to know you and your work a little bit better, but what we're looking for in terms of that presenter capacity is really to make sure. 13:45:44 That you and the proposed artist are being set up for success with with the Staffing, and the Planning Around, the Organizational capacity that will be Required to successfully support a Touring Presentation so if you've done that in the past and your staff is set up for it that's 13:46:03 Great if you haven't done it so often, but you know you can, and you have the partners in place. 13:46:08 That's great, too. We want to make sure that this funding is available for presenters. 13:46:13 If they look like as a presenter, that you may be familiar with doing a show, you know every weekend or if they're primarily, another type of organization, but the Artist, that They're Working with is just a great fit for their Community so that I hope that answers your question, reach out 13:46:32 To me. If you have any follow up Caroline asks, how solid do the performance Gate, and Community Activity Date need to be this is this, is flexible as long as the Project Ends, up taking place within the Project period for the arts connect Cycle which for this upcoming round is 13:46:54 July 1, 2,023, through June Thirtieth or 24, so in order for the Project to Be Eligible for Funding. 13:47:03 It has to take place during that time, period, if you're writing your loa and you're like sometime in spring, 2023, like that you know that that could be possible as long as excuse, me not spring 2023, spring of 24 as long as 13:47:22 it's, between the dates that I mentioned, you're okay. 13:47:25 So if there's still a little iffy, it's okay, if you don't have them exactly locked down at the time of Application just again, know that eventually if awarded the project has to fall. Into that window. 13:47:48 Alright next I work for a preventing organization that has not applied for a program with partners, presenters, like this with partnering presenters like this before for the Projects and Development, Part is that how interested organizations, connect with each other yeah, that's one way, to do it the Points of the 13:48:10 Projects, and development listing is to make sure that presenters to as you say, may not have experience collaborating with one another, for projects have the opportunity to see what everybody's working with and protect make new connections, and you know, build up a presenting cohort together so that is absolutely a great way to do 13:48:35 It especially if you, are open to what artists, you'd like to work with you can check out the project and Development Listing see what other people are interested in in the region and reach out to that presenter and see if They'd be willing to start a Conversation with you of course it's, also Essential 13:48:53 That the artist that you're proposing is interested in working with you. 13:48:57 So after you've reached out to the presenter, you'll need to have a conversation with the proposed artist to make sure that it's a good fit for all parties, you can also submit. 13:49:07 A project, that you know that you're gonna be working on within that 13:49:12 July 1, 2023 through June Thirtieth 2,000, and 24, timeframe. 13:49:16 You can sit there, to the projects in Development, listing, and see if any other presenters are interested, so those are all ways that you can collaborate. 13:49:25 I'm another way you can do it is call up a preventer. 13:49:30 Who you may know within working in another state or jurisdiction, and talk to them about whether they would like to partner with you eventually it will need to get onto the project and development Listing but you're absolutely welcome to work within your existing networks, and Leverage those Networks. 13:49:48 To take advantage of our connect. A third, thing you can do, although it is not in common on the artist to organize and arts, connect cohort. 13:49:59 You can check in with the artist. You're interested in and see if they're already planning to work with presenters in another state, or jurisdiction in the region if they are that can be a great way. 13:50:11 For to those 2 presenters, you and another Presenter to Leverage, this program to Bolster, the Artist Fee for that Arctic 13:50:47 I'm gonna keep holding here until basically, until 2. 13:50:53 So if you have other questions, please put them in the Q&A. 13:50:57 While I'm waiting. I'm gonna go ahead and grab some of those links from the presentation and put them in the chat 13:51:22 So this is the Projects and Development submission, form and the projects and development listing. 13:51:29 This is the form that you'll use to submit your project to project and development. 13:51:36 And the second is how you check out. What what has already been submitted 13:51:47 And then is a link to more information on the performing Arts presenter exchange, that you read the programming starts. 13:51:57 This Thursday, it's Thursday, Friday, next, Monday, and Tuesday, a week from today, on Tuesday, is when the Arts Connect Presenter Pitch Sessions are happening if you have a Project that you wanna get you know some energy around that you wanna see if any Presenting 13:52:14 Partners are interested in working with with you on it's a great way to do that it's super informal it's going to be in a Zoom Meeting not a not even a webinar we're just gonna be in digital space, together, and talk about so I encourage you to check it 13:52:28 Out, if you're interested 13:53:48 With you, oh, and you do have another question great, oh, great, I will wait for you, to put one in 13:53:59 We have. Someone asking is the award administered by the lead? 13:54:03 Organization. No, it is not each grant. Award is administered an awarded to each individual applicant, after you are awarded, so while we do adjudicate as a cohort once the award is made it is between the individual presenter, and mid-atlantic art so if you're 13:54:23 Applying in a consortium with 3 Presenters Total and you're awarded Mid-atlantic art is making 3 separate grants, one to each Space, and each each presenter. 13:54:38 Is required to keep up with all of the Requirements of you know Shepherding, that grant which includes Submitting, the Grant Award Agreement, and also submitting a Counter signed Letter of Agreement with the Artist and Submitting a final 13:54:58 So great thank you thanks for being here. I see what upcoming mid-atlantic webinars or Zoom Meetings. 13:55:10 Do you recommend for artists to learn more about how to connect with a cohort associate that's a great question. 13:55:17 I think, in general, we at this time don't have infrastructure as an organization to do community gathering, you know, like 13:55:29 There are certainly excellent moment of gathering that are organized by some of our colleagues in the field I Mean, aap is a isn't. 13:55:36 An example of that we as an organization, don't work on our own organized gathering. 13:55:44 Moments or pitch, sessions in that way, other than for artists on the Rocks or Russia, that we put together like for example, next week, the Mid-atlantic Tours, Roster artists, will Be Sharing more About their Work, what I'd recommend though is that you take a look at 13:56:03 our, website, and look through past Grantees, for programs, like arts connect special Presenter initiative mid-atlantic towards you, can on each Program, tab, look through Who's, been Awarded Funding and I'm you know Certainly Not Able to Guarantee that those Presenters, Would 13:56:22 be interested in starting a conversation with you, but you can be sure that if they've received a Grant, from us in the past, that they're familiar with our program, and that they are you know they have been successful in the past and so it may be a good icebreaker to say hey I saw that 13:56:41 you've received in our skinnet grant in you know, this past fiscal year. 13:56:45 I'd love to talk with you about you know, trying to you know work on something like that in the future, the other thing I'd say is that if you're in touch with the presenter in one of the metadata dates or jurisdiction and they're 13:57:01 Interested in getting, funding. But like really not sure how it works or not super comfortable navigating. 13:57:05 The website, give them my email and I'll I'll set up a call with them and I'll work with them, talk with them. 13:57:13 About how to navigate the portal, and make sure that they're super confident in a applying. 13:57:18 Because if you've already got that relationship, then you're totally encouraged to build on it. 13:57:24 And send them to us to help Garner support for Europe engagement 13:58:24 Alright and I did see one person hey, then I hope I'm present pronouncing your name correctly. 13:58:32 You had put in the chat that you had a question. 13:58:35 But I'm not sure if it made it in here yet I'll hang out for a few more minutes. 13:58:39 Until 2, O'clock. And if nothing else popped up, you were welcome to email me and we can connect outside of the Webinar Space for any other questions that you have 14:00:20 And and I want to thank all of you for your time and your interest in arts, connect and and in Atlantic art Don't hesitate to reach out my Info's in the chat, and I hope to see some of you at some of the events later this Week, virtually as
