Mid Atlantic Arts is grateful to be recognized by MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett with a transformational gift of $8 million. We will be developing an inclusive and responsive process – informed by our strategic plan, guiding principles, and the application of our emerging equity framework – to determine the best use of these funds for the benefit of our constituents and organization. We look to extend the impact of this gift beyond our organization to the region and the people we serve, while centering diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
This gift is a testament to all those that have supported Mid Atlantic’s work over the years – the artists, organizations, grantees, constituents, partner state agencies, funders, donors, board, and staff. Their gifts of time, talent, and insight were integral in building the organization that was recognized with this historic gift.
We are grateful to our past and present funders and donors – especially our state and jurisdictional arts agency partners and the National Endowment for the Arts – in supporting the vision of a future in which artists and creators are actively engaged with diverse communities to energize the transformative power of the arts.
As one of the six Regional Arts Organizations (RAO) in the United States, we are appreciative of Ms. Scott and Mr. Jewett’s affirmation of the value and impact of the Regional Arts Organization network. The RAO network has been in place for more than 40 years and strengthens and supports arts, culture, and creativity in our individual regions as well as across the nation.
