In recent years the cultural landscape, especially in music, has begun to be transformed by technology.  Jazz.NEXT was designed as a research and development laboratory to test innovative approaches enhanced by the use of technology that would broaden and deepen relationships with new and existing audiences, promote enhanced communication with the public, market and distribute the work of jazz artists more effectively, and build links that would create a more informed and cohesive jazz community better equipped to meet the challenges of a fast-changing marketplace.

Jazz.NEXT: Using Technology to Build a Healthy, Sustainable Jazz Environment includes case studies of some of the projects supported through the national Jazz.NEXT initiative as well as observations on program outcomes.

Jazz.NEXT was made possible through the generous support of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
