Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Announces 2012-2013
Support for Jazz Touring Network Engagements

Baltimore, MD - June 27, 2012 - Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation has announced fee support grants totaling $57,830 in support of 22 engagements through its Jazz Touring Network program in 2012-2013.  Network participants worked together to select artists and plan block-booked tours. The 2012-2013 tours include vocalists Jane Monheit and Luciana Souza, and bassist Ben Williams and Sound Effect with pianist Gerald Clayton sitting in on select engagements. The tours will visit venues in the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.  For the tour schedules, please click here. Please contact the venues directly for tickets, times, and to confirm dates.

The Jazz Touring Network is a membership program designed to expand the presentation of jazz throughout the mid-Atlantic region by providing selected presenters with the tools necessary to develop and sustain the art form as an ongoing part of their annual programming. The program offers opportunities for professional development, peer networking and funding for regional jazz tours.

Since 2001, the Foundation has supported 37 presenting organizations through the program. The focus is on performing arts presenters from within the mid-Atlantic region that have had little-to- no experience presenting jazz, and who also work with communities underserved by the arts. Support is provided for attendance at annual meetings, which are the program's primary vehicles for professional development. The Foundation also offers network members performance fee subsidies for engagements that are part of block-booked tours to encourage the presentation of exemplary jazz artists across the region.

The Jazz Touring Network is made possible through the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts' Regional Touring Program.
