Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Announces
2009 ArtsCONNECT Performing Arts Touring Grants

Baltimore, MD – June 27, 2008 – Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of 62 grants through its 2009 ArtsCONNECTprogram. The grants will provide $396,090 in fee support for 12 performing arts ensembles.  Grants are awarded directly to the presenting organization supporting the artists’ tour.  The Foundation received 105 applications requesting over $1,068,905 in support of 22 tours for the 2009 funding round of ArtsCONNECT.  In keeping with the Foundation's commitment to increasing access to and greater understanding of the arts, many of the funded engagements will feature workshops, residencies, or classes in conjunction with performances.

ArtsCONNECT supports performing arts tours through presenter consortia and partnerships in the mid-Atlantic region. This year's projects include: Adrienne Young and Band, The Ahn Trio, Ballet Hispanico, Eiko and Koma, Hot 8 Brass Band, Kathy Mattea and Moving Mountains, Kronos Quartet, The Living Word Project/Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Pilobolus, Ragamala Music and Dance Theater, Rennie Harris Puremovement, and the String Trio of New York.

ArtsCONNECT 2009 grants will support performing arts presenters in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the US Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.

A complete list of ArtsCONNECT grants, including local venues and artists, can be accessed here. For specific performance dates and times, please contact the appropriate presenting organization.
