Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Awards Eleven Grants to District of Columbia Presenters as Part of Special Presenters Initiative Program
Baltimore, MD - Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation has awarded eleven grants to District of Columbia arts presenters through the DC Performing Arts Presenters Initiative. The Foundation, in partnership with the DC Division of the Arts and Humanities, offers this special initiative to help defray costs related to the presentation of touring performing artists in underserved communities. Proposed artists must be from the mid-Atlantic region but outside of DC or from outside the United States. Proposals had to demonstrate a commitment to presenting the performing arts and the ongoing development of DC’s cultural landscape. Presenters are encouraged to use this funding opportunity to expand their programming options through artistic choices that represent financial or aesthetic challenges.
The 2007-2008 grantees are:
- The American Composer’s Forum of Washington, DC will present Nick Didkovsky. Combining guitar and computer, Didkovsky creates a novel and accessible contemporary sonic vernacular which subverts the formality of academic creative approaches and proposes new methodologies for both listening and performing.
