Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Announces 2007 ArtsCONNECT Performing Arts Touring Grants

Baltimore, MD – May 23, 2006 – Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of 55 fee-support grants through its ArtsCONNECT 2007 program. The grants will provide $306,020 in support for 11 touring artists. Grants are awarded directly to the presenting organization supporting the artist tour. The Foundation received a record 109 applications requesting over $900,000 in support of 24 tours for the 2007 funding round of ArtsCONNECT. In keeping with the Foundation's mission and commitment to increasing access to the arts at the community level, each of the funded engagements will feature workshops, residencies, or classes in conjunction with performances.

ArtsCONNECT supports performing arts tours through presenter consortia and partnerships in the mid-Atlantic region. This year's projects include: Big Dance Theatre, Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, Dayton Contemporary Dance, 4D Art, L.A. Theatre Works, Ragamala Music and Dance Theatre, River North Chicago Dance, 10Foot5, The Capitol Quartet, Urban Bush Women, and Vincent Mantsoe.

ArtsCONNECT 2007 grants will support performing arts presenters in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation celebrates and supports the richness and diversity of the region's arts resources and works to make those resources widely accessible both in the region and beyond. The region includes nine states and jurisdictions that are closely related by geography or culture: District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S.Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.
