2009 ArtsCONNECT Performing Arts Touring Grants Announced! |

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation has announced 62 grant
awards totaling $396,090 in fee support for 12
performing arts ensembles through its 2009
ArtsCONNECTprogram. The Foundation received 105
applications requesting over $1,068,905 in support of
22 tours for the 2009 funding round of
ArtsCONNECT. Many of the funded engagements will
feature workshops, residencies, or classes in
conjunction with performances.
This year's projects include: Adrienne Young and
Band, The Ahn Trio, Ballet Hispanico, Eiko and Koma,
Hot 8 Brass Band, Kathy Mattea and Moving
Mountains, Kronos Quartet, The Living Word
Project/Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Pilobolus, Ragamala
Music and Dance Theater, Rennie Harris
Puremovement, and the String Trio of New
York.
ArtsCONNECT 2009 grants will support performing
arts presenters in all nine mid-Atlantic region partner
states and jurisdictions. A complete list of

2009 Individual Artist Fellowships |

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is again administering
individual artist fellowship programs for the states of
Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania in
2009. The application deadlines for the 2009
fellowships are as follows:
· New Jersey: July 15, 2008
· Maryland: July 31, 2008
· Delaware: August 1, 2008
· Pennsylvania: August 4, 2008

Spring 2008 Presenter Grant Awards
This spring, PennPAT awarded $439,942 for 103
touring engagements with 57 different PennPAT roster
artists. Grants were awarded to organizations in
Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey,
New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia
and West Virginia. Grant awards ranged from $300 to
$30,225. Included in the funded engagements are
two New Directions Grants: for Squonk Opera to work
in residence at the North Carolina Blumenthal
Performing Arts Center in Charlotte; and for Miro
Dance Theatre to work in residence at Indiana
University of Pennsylvania. New Directions grants
include a residency lasting at least 7 days and provide
roster artists with the time and space to focus on their
work, create new work and/or share the philosophical
underpinnings, rationale and processes of their work
with presenters and audiences. A detailed list of grant

PA Performing Arts on Tour Interviewed on

CN8 television recently interviewed PennPAT Program
Associate Chrissie DiAngelus for their Pittsburgh
Comcast Newsmakers segment. The segment will
air in the Pittsburgh area approximately 50 times
during the month of June. A link to the segment will
be posted on PennPAT's website at the end of the
month.
