Upcoming Folk Arts Outreach Projects
Son de América.
The Foundation's next Folk Arts Outreach Project will take place September 22-24, 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Over the course of several days, Baltimore-based folkloric Mexican dance troupe México Vivo will work with mariachi group Son de América of Falls Church, Virginia to explore dance and music from the Mexican states of Jalisco, Veracruz, Michoacan, Sinaloa and Chiapas. A free public master dance class will be held at Creative Alliance on Wednesday, September 22nd and a concert featuring both groups celebrating the Bicentennial of Mexican Independence will be held Friday, September 24th at the same venue. Mid Atlantic Folk Arts Outreach Projects strengthen the region's folk and traditional arts infrastructure through the exchange of artistic excellence and best practices.  For more information, please contact Program Associate Sally Van de Water (sally@midatlanticarts.org; 410/539-6656 x 107).
