The application deadline for Mid Atlantic Arts
Foundation's Emergency Salary Program for
Presenting Organizations is Monday, June 1,
2009. The goal of the program is to preserve
positions crucial to the artistic mission of presenting
organizations that constitute the core infrastructure for
performing arts touring across the mid-Atlantic
region. Grants of up to $30,000 are to be used
towards salary, either full or partial, for one or more
positions that have recently been terminated, are in
jeopardy of elimination, or hours have been reduced
due to the current economic downturn. Permanent
full-time and part-time employees as well as
contractual
personnel are eligible for support. The program is not
intended to support the creation of new jobs.
Development and/or fundraising positions will not be
considered for funding. Grants will be awarded on a
one-time non-matching basis through an open,
competitive grants process.
The first application deadline for the Foundation's new national jazz initiative, Jazz.NEXT, has been extended to Monday, July 6, 2009. Jazz.NEXT was created to encourage the incorporation of technology in innovative approaches to developing audiences; communicating with the public; marketing, distributing and selling the work of jazz artists; and building a more robust jazz infrastructure better positioned to meet the challenges of a fast-changing marketplace. Information on the program, including guidelines and application, can be found here. Questions concerning Jazz.NEXT should be directed to Sara Donnelly, Program Officer, Jazz at sara@midatlanticarts.org or 410-539-6656 x116.
Presenters from within the mid-Atlantic region are
invited to submit suggestions for artists to be
considered for inclusion on the rosters of the
Foundation's 2010-11 American Masterpieces and
Mid Atlantic Tours programs via a new online survey.
Presenters are also encouraged to submit potential
themes for the upcoming American Masterpieces
tour. Be sure to review the descriptions and criteria for
artist roster selection for each program before
submitting your ideas. The deadline for artist roster
suggestions is May 22, 2009. Submit suggestions via
the online-survey here.
The Foundation is offering a limited number of
professional development travel subsidies for
nonprofit presenting arts organizations to attend the
2009 Performing Arts Exchange (PAE), September 23 -
26 in Norfolk, Virginia. Applicants can request up to
$950 in support (up to $450 for registration fees and
up to $500 in travel expenses). Priority consideration
will be given to first-time conference participants or
those who have not attended PAE since 2005. Such
consideration will be applied to the presenting
organization's or an individual's past record of
participation. Only representatives from presenting
organizations located in DE, DC, MD, NJ, NY, PA,
USVI, VA, and WV are eligible to apply. Applicants
receiving support will be required to attend the full
duration of the conference. Awarded funds will be
disbursed on a reimbursement basis only.
