  • Job Retention Program Deadline Fast Approaching

The application deadline for Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation's Emergency Salary Program for Presenting Organizations is Monday, June 1, 2009. The goal of the program is to preserve positions crucial to the artistic mission of presenting organizations that constitute the core infrastructure for performing arts touring across the mid-Atlantic region. Grants of up to $30,000 are to be used towards salary, either full or partial, for one or more positions that have recently been terminated, are in jeopardy of elimination, or hours have been reduced due to the current economic downturn. Permanent full-time and part-time employees as well as contractual personnel are eligible for support. The program is not intended to support the creation of new jobs. Development and/or fundraising positions will not be considered for funding. Grants will be awarded on a one-time non-matching basis through an open, competitive grants process.

Presenting the performing arts must be the primary mission and activity of an organization submitting an application. Only presenting organizations located in DE, DC, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, USVI and WV are eligible to apply. For more information on the program download a copy of the guidelines and application here.

    Upcoming Jazz.NEXT Application Deadline Revised

The first application deadline for the Foundation's new national jazz initiative, Jazz.NEXT, has been extended to Monday, July 6, 2009. Jazz.NEXT was created to encourage the incorporation of technology in innovative approaches to developing audiences; communicating with the public; marketing, distributing and selling the work of jazz artists; and building a more robust jazz infrastructure better positioned to meet the challenges of a fast-changing marketplace. Information on the program, including guidelines and application, can be found here. Questions concerning Jazz.NEXT should be directed to Sara Donnelly, Program Officer, Jazz at sara@midatlanticarts.org or 410-539-6656 x116.

Be sure to review the descriptions and criteria for artist roster selection for each program before submitting your ideas. The deadline for artist roster suggestions is May 22, 2009. Submit suggestions via the online-survey here.

The Foundation will review suggestions from the field and compile a short list of artists for further consideration. Presenters will be invited to participate in the final roster artist selection process again in June.
