Fee Subsidy Deadlines Fast Approaching

Trisha Brown Dance CompanyFee support grants are still available to presenters interested in booking artists on the Foundation's 2010-11 American Masterpieces and Mid Atlantic Tour rosters.  Interested presenters must submit offer letters to respective booking agents by March 1, 2010 for American Masterpieces artists and March 15, 2010 for Mid Atlantic Tour artists.  American Masterpieces roster artists include Ailey II, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and the Trisha Brown Dance Company.  While fee support is still open for Mid Atlantic Tours' roster artists Step Afrika!, The Wailin' Jennys, and Joe Lovano & John Scofield, funding for further Walnut Street Theater and Buika engagements is no longer available.  Not all presenters in the mid-Atlantic region are eligible for fee support for all artists. Jazz.NEXT Guidelines Now Available
Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation announces the availability of guidelines for the second grant round of Jazz.NEXT, a national jazz initiative created to encourage innovative approaches, enhanced or realized through the incorporation of technology, to develop audiences, market and distribute the work of jazz artists, and build the capacity of the jazz community to more effectively respond to current and future challenges.  The program is open to jazz artists and nonprofit organizations from across the United States that have a history of programming jazz or providing services to jazz artists or organizations.  The application deadline for the program is June 1, 2010.  Click here for the Jazz.NEXT guidelines and application. ArtsCONNECT Deadline Approaching

Actors' Gang in The Trial of the Catonsville NineThe application deadline for the Foundation's ArtsCONNECT program is March 22, 2010. ArtsCONNECT supports performing arts tours across the mid-Atlantic region developed through consortia of presenting organizations. Eligible presenters must be based in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.  Presenters should read the current program guidelines carefully before starting and submitting an application. ArtsCONNECT Projects in Development - New Issue Available Soon
The second and final issue of ArtsCONNECT Projects in Development, an online publication designed to foster dialogue among presenters based in the mid-Atlantic region who are interested in submitting applications for the ArtsCONNECT program, will be available soon.  The publication lists touring projects currently under development for the 2010-2011 season. PennPAT February News!
Squonk OperaRoster Application Now Available
The guidelines and application for the PennPAT Artist Roster are now available in a writeable Word format at
www.pennpat.org. The application deadline is June 1, 2010.
 
Roster Application Workshops Scheduled
PennPAT will offer FREE roster application workshops for Pennsylvania artists wishing to be included in the 2011 PennPAT Artist Roster. The workshop is designed to familiarize applicants on the PennPAT program, the application guidelines, the application components and the benefits of being a roster artist. Workshsops will be held in Pittsburgh, February 27 at 12 noon; Philadelphia on March 8 at 1 p.m.; and in Harrisburg on March 18 at 1 p.m. For complete details, please visit our website. Delaware Artist Fellowships Announced
The Delaware Division of the Arts has announced their Individual Artist Fellowships for 2010. Grants, totaling $75,000, were awarded to 16 artists representing the visual arts, music, literature and folk arts. Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation was pleased to administer the latest grant round of the Delaware program. The Foundation received 91 applications representing 16 different artistic disciplines from artists across the state. Nationally recognized artists and arts professionals from outside of Delaware were engaged to review the applications. Upcoming Folk Art Outreach Projects
Making a sawdust carpetMid Atlantic Folk Arts Outreach Projects enable folklorists and traditional artists to travel from their home locations to host sites in other mid-Atlantic jurisdictions in order to strengthen the region's folk and traditional arts infrastructure through exchange of information, shared practice and public presentation.  Next month, the Foundation will support projects in Pennsylvania and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Both projects include events open to the public.  African-American aesthetics and identity will be explored in the "Will to Adorn" project, which brings together artists and researchers from New York City, Washington, D.C. and St. Thomas, USVI.  The Virgin Islands Council on the Arts will host a public presentation on Friday, March 12.  Click here for more details. The Pennsylvania project, hosted by Susquehanna Folk Music Society in partnership with the Institute for Cultural Partnerships, will bring together Washington, D.C.-based Bulgarian musician Valeri Georgev and Harrisburg's blues and jazz artist Don Johnson.  Their respective bands, Lyuti Chushki and The Don Johnson Project will play in a free public concert on Friday, March 19 and a ticketed "Battle of the Bands" on Saturday, March 20.  Click here for more details and ticket information.  Questions concerning the Folk Arts Outreach Project should be directed to Sally Van de Water, Program Associate, Folk Arts at sally@midatlanticarts.org.

Soweto Gospel ChoirThe Foundation's Special Presenter Initiatives offer small and mid-sized presenting organizations in Delaware, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands the opportunity to apply for grants to broaden their programming and expand audiences.  Application deadlines are as follows:
