Grants for International Engagements Announced
| | Courtesy Pig Iron Theatre Company | The Foundation's USArtists International program awarded $90,600 in the first of three grant rounds to be conducted in the current fiscal year. The program, dedicated to ensuring that the impressive range of expression in the performing arts in the United States is represented abroad, works to strengthen the creative and professional development of American dance, music and theatre artists by providing grants to support their performances at significant international festivals and engagements representing extraordinary career opportunities. First round grants will support 15 dance, music and theater ensembles and soloists from across the United States to perform at festivals in Argentina, Austria, China, Dominican Republic, Germany, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, Palestine, Poland, Russia, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Grantees range from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to The Rose Ensemble in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the Trey McIntyre Project of Boise, Idaho, to Pig Iron Theatre Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Special Presenter Deadlines Fast Approaching
The Foundation's Special Presenter Initiatives offer small and mid-sized presenting organizations in Delaware, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands the opportunity to apply for grants to broaden their programming and expand audiences. January application deadlines are quickly approaching:

New ArtsCONNECT Guidelines Now Available
| ArtsCONNECT Grantee Parsons Dance Company |
Guidelines are now available for the 2011-2012 ArtsCONNECT program, which supports performing arts tours across the mid-Atlantic region developed through consortia of presenting organizations. Tours include public performances and complementary activities that provide audiences with a greater appreciation for the arts and enhance their concert experience. Participating presenters must be located in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia or West Virginia. Presenter consortia are required to include a minimum of three presenting organizations from, at least, two of the eligible states and jurisdictions. Applications that exceed this minimum requirement receive priority consideration. The application deadline is Monday, March 21, 2011 for projects taking place between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012. The application will be available on the Foundation website after January 31, 2011. ArtsCONNECT Projects Now Forming for the 2011-2012 Season

Tours are beginning to take shape across the mid-Atlantic region in preparation for the ArtsCONNECT grant deadline of March 21, 2011. The Foundation will be preparing the first installment of a list of potential ArtsCONNECT projects in development and projects seeking partners in the coming weeks to share with presenters in the region. If you are a presenter considering an ArtsCONNECT project and looking for project partners, please email Krista Bradley, Program Officer, Performing Arts at krista@midatlanticarts.org for an electronic project listing submission form. The submission deadline for the first installment of ArtsCONNECT Projects in Development is Monday, December 20, 2010. |

Upcoming Regional Jazz Presenters Meeting
The Jazz Touring Network will hold the first of two annual meetings scheduled for the current fiscal year in New York on January 12-13, 2011 at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The network is a membership program designed to expand the presentation of jazz across the mid-Atlantic region. The upcoming meeting will bring together the current membership of 23 presenting organizations to take advantage of a professional development session devoted to building jazz audience led by Jazz at Lincoln Center Marketing Director Jon Yanofsky, and to select artists for touring during the 2011-2012 season. Impending Deadline for Creative Fellowships at VCCA

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation provides funds to support residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Amherst, Virginia. The center provides artists with a private studio, room and board, and the company of other artists from around the nation for an intensive period of self-guided creative exploration and development. Fellowships are awarded on a rotating basis to support two-week or one-month residencies for composers, literary and visual artists from Delaware, Maryland, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia. In addition, a small travel subsidy is awarded to the selected artists. The next deadline for applications at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts is January 15, 2011.
