2004: Ceramic Sculpture
As is the case with printmaking (2002's special focus) the mid-Atlantic region is home to some of the country's best ceramic workshops and facilities. Large-scale firing, wood-fired raku kilns, and expert technical assistance is on hand in several well-known centers in the region.

Fellowships hosted in contemporary ceramic sculpture included:

  • Baltimore Clayworks, Baltimore, MD with Kwebena Ampofo-Anti, Hampton, VA
  • The Clay Studio, Philadelphia, PA with Nicole Fall, Sparks, MD
  • The Hand Workshop, Richmond, VA with Nancy Blum, Brooklyn, NY
  • Women's Studio Workshop, Rosendale, NY with Carolyn Bernstein, Washington, DC
  • WVU-Morgantown, WV with Laura McLaughlin, Pittsburgh, PA
  • DCCA and the University of DE with Bruce Denhert, Layton, NJ

The resulting new art works were exhibited at Maryland Art Place, Baltimore during both the American Craft Council annual fair and the National Council for Education in the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) annual conference.
