Baltimore, MD – November 14, 2016 – Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation has announced grants to three mid-Atlantic based presenting organizations, totaling $9,000, in support of engagements through the 2016-2017 French-American Jazz Exchange Tours program. French-American Jazz Exchange Tours provide greater visibility to the artists and projects of the French-American Jazz Exchange (FAJE) through opportunities of extended touring for FAJE projects and grantees. French-American Jazz Exchange Tours invites ensembles awarded project grants through the FAJE program to tour those projects in the United States with subsidy support provided specifically to presenters in the mid-Atlantic region.
The 2016-2017 tour will support French pianist Frank Woeste and American trumpeter Dave Douglas as they tour their DADA People project. Woeste and Douglas have created music based on the “readymades” (ordinary manufactured objects assembled as a produced work of art) of Man Ray, the only American artist to play a major role in both the Dada and Surrealist movements.
Tour engagements include Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, DC; Painted Bride Arts Center in Philadelphia, PA; and Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, NY.
